Upcycled bag

Here is a quick project that I finished today.

Supplies:

  • A small piece of material that I picked up from the free table at the local Quilt Guild.
  • A scrap of material that I cut into strips and used as a border.
  • Zipper topped bag that my mom had written her name, etc on.

Here is a photo of the bag before with the personal information covered.

Here is how the bag turned out afterwards.  I sewed as much as I could on with the sewing machine and then hand stitched the rest.

The bag has already been put into use.  I currently have a crochet project and a shirt that needs it’s buttons replaced in the bag.  I will take the bag with me on our next road trip.

Over sized Bag

Well, I failed at posting daily what I was thankful for to the blog.  Heck, I failed at posting it to Facebook also.  Lately my life hasn’t not evolved around a computer, which is a good thing.  At least I have been thinking about what I am thankful for each day even if I didn’t write it down.

So, on Saturday the local Quilt Guild had a 2nd Saturday workshop.  Members can come and learn a skill and/or make an item.  I haven’t gone in a long time, but when I saw this Over sized bag I signed up.

I think it turned out pretty good.  The hardest part was making the handles.  It did take about 5 hours from start to finish.  I used it on Monday and I was able to get a bed pillow, piece of material and a few other things in it.  It holds a lot!
