Credit Freeze for deceased loved one

Update:   I am happy to say that this worked!  I got letters back from the credit agencies that my family member’s credit report has officially been permanently frozen.

Hello world.  It has been such a long time since I posted I didn’t know my password at first!  Luckily it popped into my brain while I was looking for it.  I guess I need to write it down somewhere…

Even though an extended family member died over four years ago we have still been getting ‘pre-approved’ applications for the DISH for the family member!

The bottom of the page from DISH even says ‘This pre-screened offer of credit is based on information in your credit report indicating that you meet certain criteria’ – Ouch…

Today I saw something that if a loved one dies you should contact each of the credit reporting agencies.  So.. I wrote letters today and will be mailing them this week.  I hope this at least stops some of the mail to the deceased family member’s name.

Here are the addresses I am mailing the letter to and a copy of my form letter.  I hope it helps someone else out too.  Oh, and I wish the attorney who helped me with the family member’s estate would have suggested that I do this back then.

So, if you read this far, what do you want to see on the blog next year?  I can’t find the option for putting the survey, but here are some of the things I have been thinking (yes, I have been thinking about the blog, but just not doing).

  • Photos of the sewing, etc projects I have been working on
  • Helpful hints – like this post
  • Recipes that I have tried and the family likes
  • Books that I have enjoyed
  • Photos of places we have visited
  • YouTube bloggers and websites that I like
  • ??

Note:  Only your name and comment will show to anyone reading the blog.

Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)

Long time no post…  I just saw a photo of a Christmas present I made so I figured I would do a quick post.

Who else has gotten into using Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)?  There are many videos on YouTube, individual blogs, etc so I won’t repeat how to do it, but I will show you the first project that I did for a family member.

heat transfer vinyl, HTV, present

first HTV shirt

The lighting wasn’t great, but the trees are a solid green.  I used my Sizzix hand die cutting machine and some of the dies I had for making scrapbooks.  I had to play around with which way the HTV needed to be placed on the die since I wasn’t able to electronically flip my text.

The shirt is still being worn, but I have had to touch up a few of the letters with an iron.  I am still working on the correct amount of time, etc that they should be ironed for, etc.

Since this original shirt I have made eight more shirts for different family members.  So far I haven’t heard that the shapes or letters have fallen off.

What is your latest craft project?

Later – Heather

What have you been watching?

My family has a new favorite show that we can agree on is the show Expedition Unknown which we found on the Travel Channel (on cable).      http://www.travelchannel.com/shows/expedition-unknown

#ExpeditionUnknown

At first I wasn’t sure about it, but I can now say it is one of my favorite shows.  Josh Gates definitely makes exploring places I will probably never get to go interesting.

I have a few other favorite shows, but my family don’t really watch them.

  • Little Big Shots which I found on ABC.  It is funny and neat to see these really smart and creative kids.  #littlebigshots
  • The Voice – This is at least the second season that I have watched.  I love that I can put it on in the background and listen to it while I am working in the kitchen if I have to.  #theVoice
  • Designated Survivor – I started watching this last year and I was really happy when it started again in March 2017.  This is the only fiction show I watch and I really like it.  Last November 20/20 actually reported on the real designated survivor.  I just checked and it appears that you can still watch that episode, if you want.   #designatedsurvivor

So, what are your favorite shows?
